The Things of Earth logo, white site name, dark background

In the 1922 Christian hymn The Heavenly Vision, there’s a line that says:

“And the things of earth will go strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”

I sang that song, also known as Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, with my Aunt at my grandmother’s funeral in May 2021. When I was mulling over ideas for my blog name, these lyrics popped into my head. Personally meaningful and broad enough to encompass just about any topic within the human experience, it seemed to fit the bill—especially given that I’m not sure what form this site will take over time.

I’m Stacie, a Canadian freelance writer and editor in my mid-30s. The Things of Earth is my personal blog, a place to flesh out matters of the heart and mind, probe human happenings, and hopefully shine a light into dark places.
